This page explains how Mindset.ng researches, writes, reviews, updates and corrects the content we publish. We want you to be able to trust what you read here, and to know how we decide what goes on the site.
1. Our editorial standards
- Accuracy: Factual claims are checked against reputable primary or authoritative sources before publication.
- Evidence-based: Where research exists, we rely on it. When evidence is limited or mixed, we say so.
- Practical: Every guide aims to leave you with clear, realistic actions.
- Relevant: We adapt global ideas to Nigerian and African realities, including cost of living, the job market, family obligations and infrastructure.
- Independent: Advertisers, sponsors and partners have no influence over our editorial conclusions.
2. Sources we use
We prioritise, in this order:
- Peer-reviewed research and systematic reviews.
- Official bodies and regulators, such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Securities and Exchange Commission Nigeria (SEC), the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
- Recognised professional organisations, such as the American Psychological Association.
- Books and interviews by recognised experts.
We list key sources at the end of each article so you can verify them yourself. We avoid anonymous forums and unverified social media posts as sources of fact.
3. Health and money content (YMYL)
Articles about mental health, physical health and personal finance can affect your wellbeing and your money. For these topics:
- We only publish general educational information, never diagnoses, treatment plans or personalised investment advice.
- We include clear disclaimers and signpost professional help.
- We aim to have these articles reviewed by a suitably qualified professional. Where an article has been professionally reviewed, the reviewer’s name and credentials are shown on the article.
4. Use of AI tools
We may use AI tools to help with research organisation, outlining, grammar and editing. AI is never the final authority. A human editor checks every factual claim, source and recommendation before publication, and the Mindset.ng Editorial Team takes full responsibility for everything we publish.
5. Updates and review
Advice changes as research, regulations and prices change. We review our most important guides regularly and update them when new information becomes available. Each article shows when it was last updated.
6. Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and openly. Significant corrections are noted at the bottom of the article, with the date and a short description of what changed. To report an error, contact us through our Contact page with the article link and the issue. We aim to review correction requests within five working days.
7. Advertising, sponsorship and affiliate links
- Sponsored content is always labelled “Sponsored” or “Partner content”.
- If an article contains affiliate links, we disclose this in the article.
- We do not accept payment for positive coverage, and we do not promote schemes that promise guaranteed or unrealistic returns.
8. Comments and community
We welcome respectful discussion. We remove comments that are abusive, discriminatory, spam, or that promote scams or dangerous advice.
